We are proud to offer BK Roan Warrior, affectionately known around our barn as “Butters.” Butters is a 2021 AQHA gelding standing approximately 15.1 hands tall, and this is one we know from the very beginning because we raised him ourselves.

There is something to be said about buying a horse directly from the people who raised him. We know his history, how he has been handled, what he has been exposed to, and exactly what has—and has not—been done with him. Butters has been given a solid, practical foundation with an emphasis on creating a useful horse rather than rushing him through a program.

RANCH EXPERIENCE

Butters has been ranched on and used to check cattle. He has spent time outside of the arena doing real-world work and has learned to confidently travel through different environments.

He is the kind of gelding you can point somewhere and expect him to go.

He has been ridden through different terrain, around cattle, and out where a horse has to learn to pay attention to his rider instead of relying on an arena wall.

He will:

• Go where he is pointed

• Stand to be saddled

He has been exposed to the everyday situations we believe a young horse needs to experience in order to become a dependable, useful gelding.

STARTED IN THE ROPING PEN

Butters has also been started in the arena on the lead steer and roping sled.

We want to represent him exactly as he is: he is started, not being sold as a finished rope horse.

He has the foundation there for someone wanting to continue developing him in the roping pen. With his size, ranch background, cattle exposure, and willingness, we believe he has the ingredients to make a very nice rope horse with continued training.

Whether someone wants to take him toward the heading, heeling, ranch versatility, ranch rodeo, or simply continue developing him into a well-rounded using horse, there are plenty of directions this gelding could go.

DISPOSITION

One of our favorite things about Butters has always been his mind.

We have had no buck, rear, kick, or spook out of this gelding.

He has been expected to have manners from the beginning. He stands tied, stands for saddling, and stands for the farrier.

Butters has not been kept in a bubble. He has been exposed to life outside of the arena and has been expected to handle new situations and go forward when asked.

We believe that kind of experience is invaluable in a young horse.

Butters is not a horse we bought specifically to resell. He carries our BK name because we raised him.

We have watched him grow up and have been responsible for putting the foundation underneath him. That allows us to represent him with confidence and honesty.

At only five years old, he has his entire future ahead of him.

He already has the foundation that takes time to put on one: ranch miles, cattle exposure, outside riding, trail experience, and a start in the roping arena. The hard part of getting a young horse out, exposing him to different situations, and teaching him how to go do a job has already been started.

Now he is ready for someone to continue developing him into the horse they want.
